Island Lake Fernie BC
This is the painting that never seems to be finished! I have run in these mountains many times and every way you look is visual overload. It is just so beautiful and takes my breath away every time.
In the summer it can be so warm and inviting to sit by the lake which is warmed by the sun to comfortable swimming temperatures. A canoe is a super peaceful way to experience the lake. From there a hiking trail goes several kilometers around the lake and it connects to the high alpine trails. My favorite being the Faerie Lake trail that climbs up past a majestic waterfall and then up above the treelike to the summit of Mount Proctor at 8,500 feet above sea level.
While this painting still needs some work on the reflections and tree highlights, I wanted to post it now as I’ve had to set it aside for a commission. (more about that in the next post!) I want this one to really bring me back there.
