Crowsnest Pass, Alberta Canada
With a week to go until the 2025 Sinister 7 race I got the blues wishing I could be at my favorite 100 mile race in the Canadian rockies. The scenery is both beautiful and equally rugged and unforgiving. I men it’s the place where the top of a mountain fractured creating a rock slide that buried a mining town. Yes, it’s rugged and will punish the unprepared.
Having participated 5 times in the event as a solo runner, I’ve seen this place in so many different types of weather and times of day and night. It’s always changing and always amazing.
In 2018 I took a photo from the back side of leg 7, the final leg and didn’t realize how much I liked it until recently. This painting was a sort of therapy about missing out on the event. It’s oil on canvas and 11×14 inches.
The pass with clouds casting shadows on the mountains.
